Liner Instructions

If you plan on adding a decal to the liner please note that the decal must go on the smooth side of the liner. The decal will not adhere to the textured side. Put the spray adhesive on the textured side and the underside of the hood.

To install this liner I recommend 3M spray adhesive #80. Its a high temp adhesive made for this type of material. Do NOT use general adhesive sprays or sprays designed for carpet. On my own car, 3M # 80 has held up for several years.

3M spray adhesive #80. Is available from www.mcmastercarr.com and Home Depot

McMaster Carr product ID 7610A16

On some models, it is easier to remove the hood to install it. The hood liner is resistant to water, oils, heat etc, but its not indestructible. If you pull it too hard or gouge it with a tool it will tear. Handle it carefully.

If you have a helper, apply adhesive to the liner and hood. Hold the liner over the hood at all four corners and line it up. When it’s lined up, drop it into place. Smooth it from the center out, tuck it under the edge and trim off any excess .If you get any air bubbles when you drop it and they won’t move to the end when you smooth it, poke it with a pin to let the air out.

Standard Decal Installation Instructions

Helpful Tricks

You may apply the decal wet for more precise installation (and recommended for extra large and/or solid design decals). This requires water to be applied to the back of the decal and the surface you are applying it to (a spray bottle is required).

After the decal is positioned properly, just squeegee out the excess water. Once dry, remove the application tape. This procedure takes longer but is recommended for decals that are large and/or are solid with no cuts.

*PLEASE READ -- The decal is covered with a opaque “application tape” that allows you to transfer the decal to the application surface. To make sure the decal will stick to the application tape (and not the paper), apply pressure to the entire decal using a squeegee, credit card or you finger.

Thoroughly clean the area where the decal is to be applied using a non oil based cleaner; warm soapy water works fine. Allow time to dry.  You may wish to use rubbing alcohol on the application surface to make sure that it is cleaned of all chemicals.

Trim around the decal if necessary using scissors or an Exacto knife. Make sure to use the decal itself to center or level the decal since the application tape may not be perfectly cut. Be careful not to cut the decal or YOURSELF!

Peel the paper backing off. This is done easiest by placing the decal FACE DOWN on a flat surface.  Then peel the paper backing off making sure the decal sticks to the application tape that is on the front of the decal.

Position the decal where you would like to place it. Be sure to level the DECAL since the application tape may not be level with the decal. DO NOT use any pressure yet. If the decal is not level, centered, etc. you may reposition it if you have not applied pressure.

Once the decal is where you want it, apply pressure to all of the decal. You may use a squeegee or your fingers.

Now it is time to remove the application tape. Start at a corner and slowly pull back, PARALLEL to the surface. DO NOT pull away from the surface.
